Structure for electrical outlets

The installation is made according to the three electric sockets existing in the exhibition area. As I visited Tabakalera the first time I noticed that the electric sockets around the building are used as “waterholes”. People form sculptural little heaps on the floor with their bags and jackets as they sit by the sockets to power up their digital devices to get connected to somewhere else. The sockets are a physical element in the building. Though the electricity is “without form” it still needs a physical manifestation to “get from one place to another”, just like people needs the electrical outlets to get in touch with for instance friends and family elsewhere.

The sockets are distributed around the building, probably according to some regulative for placing electric sockets in modern buildings. This unintended use of the building is a funny contrast to all the planned activities in the very big and architecturally well thought out building.
