Architecture and exile congress

The Conference Architecture and Exile is part of the International Congress Science and Exile (1936-1960) organized by the association Hamaika Bide Elkartea between 7 and 11 November. With around forty participants, the congress focuses on a work developed by republican exile in the fields of pure and experimental sciences. Medicine and Architecture will have a special presence, although personalities from fields as diverse as Mathematics, Chemistry or Biology will also be remembered.

In addition to having a presence at the Miramar Palace, which will host the 9th day on Architecture, the congress will be held in the auditorium of the Carlos Santamaría Center of the UPV / EHU, with the exception of its inaugural conference, which will take place in Hall of the Throne of the Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa.

The day linked to MUGAK will have 4 presentations and 3 communications. The first ones, given by the professors of the UPV/EHU J. Arrizabalaga, A. Azpiri, M. Sangalli and I. Viar, will deal with the Basque Architecture in Exile, lecturing on the life and work of the architects Tomás Bilbao, Juan de Madariaga, Pablo Zabalo and Iñaki Zubizarreta. The second, with the presence of researchers from Mexico, the Basque Country and Argentina, will combine a vision of the presence of Architecture in the Exhibition of Spanish exile in Mexico with a view to the architects Imanol Ordorika and Antoni Bonet i Castellana.
